Bold statement: style isn’t just about clothes—it’s a statement you make with every step, and Vivica A. Fox just proved how a single accessory can turn a look into a conversation. But here’s where it gets controversial: is crystal embellishment overkill or the ultimate selfie-ready magic? You decide after you read this.
Vivica A. Fox amplified a geometric white pedicure with shimmering gold crystal platform sandals from René Caovilla, pairing them with a velvet Balmain gown at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles on Monday night. The sandals arrive in a warm gold tone, fully encrusted with crystal pavé from the toe strap all the way to the platform. The design features an open toe, a single broad front band, and a platform base covered in matching crystals. A white pedicure with a triangular motif sits neatly just behind the strap, creating a crisp contrast that draws the eye.
To complete the ensemble, Fox wore a burgundy Balmain dress. The velvet gown is accented with a sequined collar and a coordinating trim around a front keyhole cutout. She carried a tonal, textured clutch with a subtle shimmer and accessorized with stacked metal cuffs, bracelets, and cocktail rings. Teardrop earrings mirrored the warm metallic glow of her crystal-covered platforms, tying the entire look together.
Fox’s crystal-soaked Caovilla sandals aren’t an isolated moment—they reflect a broader pattern of the brand’s visibility on big stages and in street style. Earlier, she wore Caovilla’s flower-adorned sandals in New York City last November. The brand also made headlines during Super Bowl LVII, when Karol G walked onto Bad Bunny’s halftime show wearing embellished Caovilla sandals as part of the beige-and-white “casita” segment. In December, Thandiwe Newton showcased metallic gold Cleo snake-wrap sandals from the label for the Anaconda premiere in Los Angeles, with the coiled ankle strap echoing the film’s theme.
René Caovilla’s presence remains strong on the runways as well, having served as the exclusive shoe partner for the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with a bespoke line featuring crystal-studded sandals, boots, and mules that sport a stardust sole.
Fox’s appearance at ABFF Honors brings this crystal-forward craftsmanship to a carpet celebrating Black film. ABFF Honors gathered actors, directors, and producers for an intimate dinner recognizing excellence across film and television. This year’s honorees included Angela Bassett, Dwayne Johnson, Jennifer Hudson, Damson Idris, and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, along with the creative team behind “Sinners.” Fox attended with collaborators from “Is God Is,” the forthcoming Aleshea Harris–directed film produced by Orion Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios.
